Biography

Venezuelan conductor and double bassist Juan Guevara was shaped by the renowned “El Sistema”.For over a decade, he performed with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, and Amsterdam Concertgebouw, under maestros such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, and Simon Rattle. In Portugal, he has played with ensembles like Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra do Norte, and Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras.Guevara holds a bachelor’s degree in double bass from UNEARTE in Caracas and a master’s degree in Contemporary Performance from Berklee College of Music, Valencia Campus. Since 2020, he has studied conducting at the Opus 23 Conducting Academy with Spanish maestros Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado.In 2022, he was selected for the BSP 3rd International Conducting Masterclass with Douglas Bostock. He served as Principal Conductor of the Zana Batuta Orchestra and Assistant Conductor to Maestro Miguel Romea with the Orquestra Sinfónica ESART in Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
